【TOEIC】検定試験対策

国際英語学科では、高度な英語力を習得してグローバルに活躍できる力を育成しています。「高度な英語力」には、自分の意見を明確に表現したり、相手と英語で交渉したり、また、異なる文化を理解して協働的に仕事ができる力を意味しています。その中の1つとして英語の検定試験があります。企業が参考にしている代表的なテストが「TOEIC」です。1年生科目として試験対策用の科目を必修・選択科目として設けています。今回は現状について Doyle准教授が説明します。英語で書かれていますが、英語の勉強にもなると思いますのであえて日本語に訳さずに記載します。

Students at EAGL start thinking about job-hunting from their 3rd year onwards. And part of job-hunting for EAGL students is the TOEIC score. Today, I’d like to introduce the 3rd and 4th year top scores for EAGL students. These are the top scores for the 2025 TOEIC test from 3rd and 4th year EAGL students.

• The 3rd-year: 810
• The 4th-year: 925 (and Eiken STEP the 1st grade)

As you can see students progress towards high TOEIC scores and by 3rd year many students are achieving high scores which are very helpful to students when they start their job-hunting. In first year, students study Test Taking Skills I & Test Taking Skills II, these subjects focus on the TOEIC test. Test Taking Skills I is a compulsory subject（必須科目）while Test Taking Skills II is an elective（選択科目）. In Test Taking Skills I students become familiar with the questions and develop test taking strategies. Test Taking Skills IIfocuses on trying to achieve higher scores. (600-800)

Good TOEIC scores are wanted by many Japanese companies nowadays. In fact, many companies look for TOEIC scores over 650. Many companies also reward employees who have good TOEIC scores. A good TOEIC score can help students get jobs in many industries, such as the Airline, Hotel, Financial, Cosmetic industries. Many students join EAGL with EIKEN scores of levels 3, pre-level 2 and level 2 but they go on to become proficient English speakers and attain high TOEIC scores. So, EAGL is a great choice for students to achieve this goal!

これまで2年生以降は毎回満点（990点）という学生もいましたが、大切なのは点数ではありません。TOEICなどの検定試験のスコアを英語学習の励みにして、社会で使える実践的な英語力、そして、常に変化する世界情勢を理解できる力をつけることが大切です。
