【Internship】J.R. Kyushu Station Hotel Kokura 様：特別講義

国際英語学科では、学科独自のインターンシップ科目として企業様と連携を結んでいます。この度は、九州を代表するホテルである J.R.Kyushu Hotels & Resorts 人事部の内田様、西村様にお越し頂き、ホテルの業務やどのような人材を求めておられるかお話をして頂きました。必要な英語能力の他にも具体的なお話があり、とても勉強になる内容でした。九州は福岡を中心にアジアの玄関口として海外から多くの観光客が来日します。自然が豊かなアイランドである九州は、アジアだけでなく欧州、アメリカ、オーストラリアなど世界から人が集まる拠点になっています。学科の学びの柱の1つである「国際関係・交流分野」に関係する特別講義として貴重な情報を伺うことができました。内田様、西村様、ありがとうございました。

On Tuesday, Nov 11 EAGL welcomed Mr. Uchida and Ms. Nishimura from JR Kyushu Hotels and Resorts as guest speakers. Both Mr. Uchida and Ms. Nishimura are members of the Human Resource Department of JR Kyushu Hotels and Resorts. 

They had come to speak about working in the Hotel Industry and many of the students were very interested in learning about this industry. Both Mr. Uchida and Ms. Nishimura also shared their personal experiences with the students, and it was an informative and interesting talk. 

They spoke about the working styles that are available at JR Kyushu Hotels and Resorts, and how company employees can advance in their careers. For example, employees can become an assistant Manager after 3-5 years from first entering the company. They also mentioned that if you score more than 750 points on the TOEIC test, you can receive an allowance of ¥5,000 per month! They outlined the opportunities that are available to study abroad and how employees can spend up to 3 months studying abroad. All this information is very helpful for students when deciding on which industry to work in.

Of particular interest to EAGL students was the fact that inbound tourists make up a large percentage of the tourists staying at JR Kyushu Hotels and Resorts. And, of course, English is the main language of communication, followed by Chinese! This highlighted the importance of being able to communicate in English and perhaps taking Chinese as a second foreign language.

Overall, this was a very informative, interesting and helpful talk from Mr. Uchida and Ms. Nishimura, both of whom took turns in speaking and sharing their own personal journeys in the Hotel Industry! Students were able to get a clear picture of what a career in the Hotel Industry could be like.

講義を聞いて、ホテル業界の仕事の内容や、仕事のやりがい、またホテル業界にも多くの種類があることがわかりました。私も将来は海外の方だけでなく日本の方とも多く関われる仕事に就きたいと考えているため、将来の夢としてホテル業も視野に入れてこれからも勉強を頑張りたいと思いました。また、言語の幅を広げておくとより仕事の幅も広がることが分かったので授業で習っている言語を習得できるように頑張りたいと思いました。(K.M.)

私はガイダンスでホテル業界へのイメージが変わりました。ホテル=お客様ファーストというイメージを私は持っていましたが、｢従業員が幸せじゃないとお客様を幸せにできない｣という理念を聞いて、確かにその通りだと思いました。福利厚生や初任給のことまでお話して下さり従業員が快適に働ける環境が準備されているのだと感じました。最後に、採用の時は｢人間性｣を見ていると伺って、私も大学4年間で英語のスキルはもちろん人間性を磨いていきたいと感銘を受けました。(F.H.)

お話を伺って魅力的に思ったポイントは、福利厚生がとても手厚いことです。具体的なお話を聞くことができて、すごく素敵だなって思いました。他にも、失敗談や体験談を伺うことができてすごく面白かったです。最近までホテルで働くことも視野にいれていたので貴重なお話を聞けてすごくよかったです。(T.M)
