国際キャリア学科（ICD）の英語習得科目は定期的に実施するテストに基づき、習熟度ごとに少人数制のクラスを編成しています。カリキュラムは英語力をスキル別に高め、総合的に伸ばすことを目的に編成されており、授業の多くは英語圏諸国出身のネイティブスピーカーの教員が担当しています。
英語習得科目のうち、国際キャリア学科（ICD）１年生を対象とする必修科目である「First-year English」は大学英語の導入的な授業です。学生たちはレベルごとに編成された四つのクラスに分かれ、タイラー・モントゴメリー（米国出身）、アラン・ウィリアムズ（ニュージーランド出身）、ダーシー・デリント（カナダ出身）、ロジャー・ソアレス（米国出身）、トロイ・ド―セット（米国出身）の５名の講師から将来、国際ビジネスの世界で活躍する時に活かせる通じる英語を学んでいます。
授業ではペア活動、グループ活動、プレゼンテーションなどを通して、流暢なアウトプットができるように練習を積み、「リスニング」「スピーキング」「リーディング」「ライティング」の英語の四技能を中心に総合的なコミュニケーション力を育みます。クラスメイトとのアクティビティを通して、無理なくレベルアップすることができます。

「First-year English 」（Darcy De Lint）
My hope in these courses is to access, activate and build on the English knowledge that students bring with them from previous studies. A lot of exercises are designed to help with fluency in listening, speaking, reading and writing while giving students many chances to add new vocabulary and express themselves in English.
We hold the classes in the CALL rooms to enable students’ independent control in listening tasks and this control helps students become more independent learners. CALL also allows me to easily create a variety of pairs and small groups for collaborative work or speaking activities, offering students both a chance to interact with a number of different classmates and a challenge to develop their skills.
Student participation and effort – very important things in any language class – have been great so far and I hope it continues throughout the term.
