国際英語学科の Doyle's seminar(ドイル・ゼミ)に福岡女学院高校生が参加。ゼミ生がこれまでの研究を分かりやすく説明しました。
On Wednesday, November 13th, 2024, seven second-year students from Fukuoka Jo Gakuin High School attended the senior seminar class. This was a great opportunity for the senior high school students to experience first-hand the senior seminar atmosphere.
The seniors are now writing their graduation research paper, so we thought it would be a good opportunity for the seniors to show the high school students the topics that they had chosen. The senior seminar students had prepared short posters to help explain their individual topics to the high school students. The seniors gave a 2-minute presentation about their topics in English. If the high school students didn’t understand anything, they also gave some explanation in Japanese.
From these poster presentations the high school students had a good idea of the theme of this seminar: Diversity & Inclusion. After this, the high school students joined the senior seminar students and we looked at writing the introduction to the research paper. In particular, we focused on citations – what they are and how to write them. We also looked at writing the reference list too. The students worked through an example introduction and the high school students were able to recognize the difference between an academic paper and a simple English essay.
