Event: EAGL Freshers Rounders & BBQ!

On June 8, 2024, the EAGL first year students gathered for some fun and games! Dr Doyle, one of the EAGL faculties, explained the rules of Rounders, a game which resembles baseball and is played in schools in the UK. The rules are similar to softball rules, so students understood the rules pretty quickly. This was a great opportunity for the students to meet each other outside of the classroom, to chat and spend time together in a relaxed atmosphere.

Once everyone had warmed up (under the orders of Prof. Sakurada, EAGL department chair) and was ready to play, the games began. Students played 3 innings and it was a very close game with Team A scoring 15 points and Team B scoring 14 points! There was lots of cheering and clapping!

There was some superb batting and some great pitching from everyone, and an enjoyable game of Rounders was had by all. After students and teachers had shown off their skills, it was time for the BBQ. The BBQ was set up quickly and the meat was cooking in no time at all. Everyone had worked up quite an appetite after the game and the food disappeared quickly. Once the meat was gone, everyone sat back and made some smores. A relaxing time was had by all at the BBQ and luckily the rain held off until we had finished!
