国際英語学科2017年度入学生（第4期生）62名が本日卒業しました。（通常はガウン・キャップを着用して卒業式を行いますが、感染防止の点から時間を短縮し、服装も指定せず学部ごとに実施しました。写真撮影の時のみマスクを外しています）

コロナ禍にあり4年次は遠隔授業が中心となりました。また、就職活動も多くの制約を受けました。パンデミックの影響でサービス産業がかつてない打撃を受けました。航空業界で活躍を夢みた学生達にとっては厳しい1年となりました。しかし、逆境にめげずに進路を開拓した力を賞賛いたします。遠隔授業についても今後オンライン化が進む社会にあっては、デジタル教育I期生と胸を張れる経験をしたことでしょう。

ダーウィンは「運」と「適応」という生存法則を明らかにしました。運を相手に無駄な闘いを挑むより、与えられた環境の中で自分の才能をいかに発揮するか、適応を考える方が得るものが大きいのかもしれません。国際英語学科の前身は人文学部英語学科（2003年度〜2013年度）で、既に多くの卒業生が社会で活躍しています。2017年度生の活躍が楽しみです。

Class 2017 graduated today. (Usually students wear gowns and caps, but to prevent virus infection, the graduation ceremony was held in a simple form without gowns and caps. Masks were taken off only when photographs were taken.)

Class 2017 took online classes mainly in their fourth year. It was not easy to look for jobs because of the pandemic. Especially, students who wished to work in the airline industry had to make difficult decisions. However, they did not become weary even in the hardest time. As for online classes, they will be called in the future 'the first generation for online education'. 

Charles Darwin said "It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change". This is true. It may be useless to try to change our destiny. In contrast, it would be much more fruitful to adjust ourselves to change.

The Department of English as a Global Language originates from the English department founded in 2003. The graduates have already been working successfully in a variety of industries. We are certain that Class 2017 will make a great contribution to the prosperity of society. 

前を向いても後ろを向いても「前進」あるのみです。

Whether facing forward or backward, we are making "progress"!
