国際キャリア学科の英語科目は定期的に実施するテストに基づき、レベルごとにクラスを編成しています。カリキュラムは英語力をスキル別に高め、総合的に伸ばすことを目的に編成されており、授業の多くは英語圏のネイティブの教員が担当しています。
英語関連科目のうち、国際キャリア学科１年生の必修科目である「Reading and Writing Skills」では英作文と英文読解の能力向上を目的としています。以下は、本科目を担当しているイアン・エドワード・ケニオン先生（Mr.Ian E. Kenyon、英国出身)による授業紹介です。

授業紹介：Reading and Writing Skills（Ian E. Kenyon）

In this class, my principal aim is to try to help the students understand basic English writing conventions, which I believe are rather different from those in their native language. The main focus is on writing coherent and unified paragraphs. This foundation is absolutely vital if they are to move on to writing longer pieces of work.

Students also read extensively. The Graded Reader Collection of books enables them to read classic works in English at their own level. This is particularly useful for vocabulary acquisition. However, given that reading is essentially a solitary activity the students do most of their reading for homework. This reading aspect links up with the writing, as students are required to write reports about books they have read.

During class time the students mostly concentrate on short writing exercises of various kinds, while I wander around the class checking their work, offering suggestions and hopefully getting to know them a little bit. Students will also proofread each other’s work, thereby hopefully improving both the general English level and the class atmosphere.

At first, almost everyone finds it hard to grasp the discipline required to write good English paragraphs - it seems very alien. As time passes, though, students invariably make good progress.

I'm sorry that our first classes have to be online. I really hope to see you all in the classroom as soon as possible. Please don't worry about using Google Classroom for the first time. Many teachers have never used it before either!

基礎的な文法の確認から始まり、授業の最後には長文のエッセーを書くので、忘れかけていた文法の復習にもなり、応用も学べ、とても勉強になります。わからないことを英語で質問することが少し難しいですが、ケニオン先生はいつも丁寧にわかりやすく教えてくださいます。

授業では英文を書く機会が多く、少し難しく感じる時もありますが、優しくて暑がりなケニオン先生のおかげでとても楽しく受講しています。

「Reading and Writing Skills」では自分で英語の文章を作成する機会が多く、英作文の力が身につく授業だと思います。英語で作文することは難しいですが、ケニオン先生はいつも楽しく、丁寧に教えてくださいます。

ケニオン先生の「Reading and Writing Skills」の授業では基礎を学んだうえで、自分たちで構成し、テーマに沿った英文を作ります。私は長い英文を書くことがあまり得意ではありませんでしたが、徐々にスラスラと書けるようになりました。英語のカードゲームやクイズ大会などもあり、みんな楽しく授業に参加できています。
