3月12日に卒業式が行われました。

皆さんの健康を最優先にし、感染のリスクを軽減させるため、代表生が卒業証書を受け取るスタイルに縮小して式が執り行われました。教職員一同、皆さんの卒業を盛大にお祝いしたかったのは言うまでもありません・・・。

 

　短大には長い伝統があります。その一つが、卒業式での英語のスピーチです。今年も、卒業生代表のR.T.さんと在学生代表のN.F.さんは、皆さんの前で披露できることを信じて、最後まで練習していましたが、残念ながら叶いませんでした。そこで、このブログで、紹介したいと思います。

 

卒業生代表スピーチ・・・

　It has been two years since we entered this school. Finally, today is the day we will graduate. How was your college life, everyone? Do you think you are different from two years ago? I think every single person spent two lovely years here filled with lots of wonderful memories. We could have a great time in a very comfortable place thanks to our families, friends, teachers and staff members. We would like to express our great appreciation for your support.

Throughout our college lives, we had many opportunities to make our experiences more interesting and wonderful. In April of our first year, we had our orientation in Karatsu. It was the first time for us to get to know each other. Although now we are all close friends, you might have had different impressions at that time. We also had an unforgettable class. It was the Ogasawara class. In that class, we learned how to put on “yukata” by ourselves and manners to adapt to society. In our 2nd year, we had a great opportunity to think back on what we gained and how much we developed by joining the speech contest. The theme of the contest was “Jo Gakuin’s Impact on Me”. This experience gave me confidence to express my feelings in front of many people. Thanks to Jo Gakuin, we could experience lots of precious things that money can’t buy.

From now on, we are going to turn a new page in our long lives. This is just a beginning, not a sad farewell. Therefore, I want to say, “See you again!” instead of saying, “Good-bye”. I am sure that someday we can meet again.

Before I end this speech, I would like to share some words from a book. “Life is C (Choice) between B (Birth) and D (Death).” There are no perfect answers in our lives. All your choices will be right if you take ownership for them. No matter what, believe in and keep challenging yourselves for whatever you want. Let’s make our plain white pages turn into colorful pages not only with successes, but also with valuable learning experiences.

在校生代表スピーチ・・・

The severe cold of winter has eased, and the warmth of spring has gradually been felt. Congratulations on your graduation today. I feel lonely with an incredible feeling that your graduation ceremony will end soon.

    Two years ago, you all must have entered Fukuoka Jo Gakuin Junior College with great hope and dreams for your college life. Were you able to become the future self from that time? I think that the two years since you entered this school was very important to you.

    As we think about the other side of the world, in 2018, we had the Pyeongchang Olympics and Japanese athletes won 13 medals which was the most medals we had ever won in the Winter Olympics. In addition, the Hidden Christians in Nagasaki and Amakusa regions were declared as World Heritage.

    In 2019, starting from a new era, Reiwa, in the autumn there was the Rugby World Cup, and Japan reached the best 8 and shocked the world.

    Now that you have hopes and dreams in your heart and want to fly into a new world, please continue to use what you have learned at our school without losing your hopes and dreams. Even if you find employment, go on to higher education, and the environment is different, I think that a strong bond has been made among you second-year students by spending time together at our school.

We current students, will continue to work hard to protect and inherit the wonderful traditions of our school, which you all have helped build, and live our student lives without regrets.

    Globalization has progressed now, and the Tokyo Olympics will be held this year. Our world has evolved into an era of internationalization. For this reason, there will be more opportunities to play an active role in the world. I sincerely pray for your health and success. Once again, congratulations on your graduation today.
