In Business Reading , our reading matter focuses on a different kind of business each week, for example, the fashion business, the airline industry or the IT industry. Of course simply reading is a fairly solitary pursuit, so other activities are always built in. Students sometimes, for instance, receive slightly different versions of that day’s reading material, with different bits of information missing. Each student’s job is then to prepare questions in order to elicit that information from another student. This makes the class a little more interactive and lively than if they were simply reading on their own. Other reading exercises may include asking students to research questions typically asked at job interviews abroad and then practice them in pairs. Yet another example - perhaps in preparation for a career with a non-Japanese company -  is having students research more individualized “western-style” CVs, and express themselves artistically by making their own CVs.

Basically, although this is a reading class the aim is not simply to sit and read about the world of business, but to try and stimulate curiosity by having students discover information for themselves.

ケニオン先生のBusiness Reading（ビジネス英語）の授業はすべて英語で行われます。特定のテキストは使わず、毎回、先生が用意してくださるトピックごとに勉強します。世界の代表的な企業について調べてクラスメイトにプレゼンテーションをしたり、英語で履歴書（CV）を書いたりと、自主的に勉強する内容が多いです。授業を通して特に英文を読み解くリーディング力が上がったように思います。ケニオン先生はとても優しく、分からないことはクラスの皆が分かるまで丁寧に説明してくださり、悩んでいると声をかけてくださいます。ケニオン先生のBusiness Readingの授業は毎回が楽しく、とても充実しています。

ケニオン先生のBusiness Readingの授業では、課題の英文を読む力や英語で質問する力、聴き取る力が身についていると思います。課題の英文はビジネスに関したもので、経済や経営に関する知識も同時に培われます。ケニオン先生はいつも優しく教えてくださり、先生と英語で会話をすることがとても楽しいです。

ケニオン先生のBusiness Readingの授業ではゲームをしたり、穴埋め問題を解きながらビジネスに必要な英単語やフレーズを学んでいます。グループで誰が一番早く問題が解けるか競争したり、ペア学習が多いのでとても楽しい授業です。

ケニオン先生のBusiness Readingの授業はほとんど英語ですが、授業の進み具合もちょうどよくて、とてもわかりやすいです。毎回、その日ごとに授業スタイルが違って、自分で英文を考えたり、ペアになってビジネスに関する英文の読解をしたりして、９０分の授業時間があっという間に感じます。その日の内容が終わると、グループに分かれて英語を使ったゲームをしたりすることで楽しんで英語に触れることができています。授業中も、先生が見回ってくださるので、分からないところを質問しやすく、英語力向上に繋がると感じています。毎回、型にはまった授業ではなく、色々な方向から英語を学ぶことができるのでとても楽しい授業です。
