The 2017 freshers orientation was held on Wed. 5 April 2017.
59 students newly joined the Department of English as a Global Language (EAGL) this year. The orientation started at 10.00 am. Prof. Kawabata, Chair, talked about what the department expected its students to do during their four years. Then each faculty member delivered his or her messages to the students.
Lunch meeting: Students and faculty staff had lunch together.
In the afternoon session sophomores and juniors presented and talked about their study abroad experience and the course they were taking at university.
Finally, student staff had a group session. The freshers asked a lot of questions and got insider stories from the staff.
The EAGL is the department in which students study hard to maximally improve their English skills and learn the skills needed to have a successful career life after graduation. The students are extremely active and cooperative. If you are interested in the department, please participate in the open schools events this year.
