今回はイマージョンコースの授業紹介、第二弾です。
1年生の必修科目「基礎演習A・B」は、クラスアドバイザーによって提供されています。イマージョンコースのアドバイザーは、Jack Brajcich先生。
どのような授業を行っているのでしょうか。
In our “Kisoenshu” (general studies) class, we are doing various projects with a focus on the four language skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Students are reading at least 50,000 words this semester for extensive reading practice. In addition, students are writing 50 pages in their journals for extensive writing practice.
As for our projects, we take a learner-centered approach with a focus on each student’s strengths in terms of multiple intelligences (abilities such as musical-rhythmic, visual-spatial, verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic). We are also working on developing critical thinking skills though discussions, debates and our different projects. This class is always fun and stimulating!
