Communication Skills
国際キャリア学科の英語科目はレベルごとに少人数のクラスを編成しています。カリキュラムは英語力をスキル別に高め、総合的に伸ばすことを目的に編成されており、授業の多くは英語圏のネイティブの教員が担当しています。
くわえて2年次には海外の提携校に留学するプログラムがあり、現2年生では4割以上の学生が長期留学しました。こうしたカリキュラムを通じて、現2年生の中には先月、実施されたTOEICテストで800点近い点を取る学生も出てきています。
以下は、英語力向上のためのカリキュラムの一環として開講されている「Communication Skills」の授業を今年4月から担当する予定のポール・シミズ先生(Mr. Paul Shimizu、英国出身、ロンドン大学教育学部卒)による授業紹介です。
The main aim of this course is to have students engage with each other and the teacher. It requires participation, cooperation and effort by all. The main aim of the teacher is to act as a facilitator rather like a conductor conducting an orchestra. Thus I will be conducting the students to make ‘good music’.
There will of course be teacher to student engagement as well as pair work, small group work and whole class activities. It is essential that we enjoy ourselves in this class.
