The silhouette represents the 125th Memorial Hall (left) and Jennie Gheer Memorial Auditorium (right).

Fukuoka Jo Gakuin is a women's Christian school founded by Miss Gheer in 1885. The school was first built in the city centre of Fukuoka. Now the university is located in the south of Fukuoka at a distance of only thirty-minute drive from Fukuoka Airport, the gateway to Asia.

The Department of English as a Global Language is one of the two departments in the Faculty of International Career Development. It was originally established as part of the Faculty of Humanities in 2003. Since then the department has developed successfully. Its English education has been highly regarded in the Kyushu area, the south main island of Japan.

The department provides students with excellent language skills courses: 36 credits of required courses amount to nearly 30% of the total credit hours (124). Furthermore, elective courses including language skills and concentration modules are carefully planned to satisfy students' needs for their future career development.

Concentration Areas:
- International relations:
Kawabata (Columbia)
Takaya (Oxford, D.Phil)
- English education:

The next open day is held on Sun. 24 August 2014, from 11.00 to 16.00. Please visit the department booth.
