□ Student's voice: Miss M.N. from Karatsu Higashi High School, Saga
This series of essays show "Why students chose the EAGL". In this essay, we would like to introduce Miss M.N., a third-year student. Despite the challenging daily commute of two and a half hours to the university, she has been dedicated to her studies and has achieved outstanding results. She consistently prepares for class presentations and receives high praise for both content and delivery. This recognition extends beyond just the faculty; fellow students frequently approach her with questions about the course material. She is a goal-oriented individual who consistently accomplishes what she sets out to do, which is evident in her TOEIC score. She has already surpassed the department's achievement goal of 730 points, and we hope she will exceed 800 points by graduation.
Miss M.N. decided to enroll in our university through the "KOBO Suisen Exam" (open recommendation entrance examination), so we also inquired about her experience with that process.
1. Why did you choose the EAGL?
2. Strengths of the EAGL
3. Messages for people who are interested in the EAGL
In the EAGL, most classes are conducted in English. Therefore, you might initially feel a bit anxious, but as you participate more, you can improve your listening and speaking skills. Of course, to enhance all four English language skills, regular study is essential. If you ever have any questions or doubts, don't hesitate to ask your instructors. Seeking knowledge through questions is the key to skill improvement. In the EAGL, you can perceive things from various angles and broaden your horizons through learning. Would you like to spend your study time with us in the EAGL?
I entered the EAGL through the KOBO SUISEN recommendation entrance examination. The interview was conducted in English and lasted for 15 minutes with a native English-speaking teacher. I was very nervous during the interview but made an effort to speak calmly and was able to secure my acceptance. With the support of my family and teachers, I practiced for the interview every day until I could speak naturally. Proper preparation can help alleviate anxiety and nervousness. I encourage all of you to prepare in advance and approach the exam without rushing.
(Information from the department: Interviewers are not necessarily native English speakers. The faculty members of our department regularly communicate in English, so we do not differentiate between Native speakers and Non-native speakers.)
