国際キャリア学科の海外からの留学生５名が、福岡県立香住丘高等学校で行われた実践型英語学習にゲストとして招かれ、高校生２５名と英語で交流を行いました。

このプログラムは、夏休みにニュージーランドでホームステイする同校の生徒さん向けの事前学習として企画されたもので、英語を話す環境に慣れ、文化の異なる人とのコミュニケーションを体験することを目的としています。留学生の自己紹介に続いてグループごとに高校生の自己紹介があり、そのあとはお互いの文化や生活について紹介し合うなど、終始、笑顔と笑い声が絶えない１時間となりました。

５人の留学生にとっても忘れられない貴重な体験となりました。英語学科主任の瀧本先生はじめ香住丘高等学校の皆様、そして企画をしてくださった株式会社エイチ・アイ・エス九州営業本部の皆様、このような機会をいただき、ほんとうに有難うございました！

　　　　

以下は参加した留学生の感想です。

D.Pさん（東アジア日本語学校出身）

We had an exchange program with students of Kasumigaoka Senior High School. Aim of this exchange program was to make high school students familiar with English speaking environment and intercultural communication. It was my first time to visit a high school here in Japan and I was really looking forward to spending time with students. Program started with opening note from staffs of H.I.S and introduction of international students of ICD. Five of us were assigned to five different groups and we had 15 minutes of rotational conversation with each group. Our conversation was mainly focused in practicing self introduction, explaining different Japanese food, tradition and other useful phrases . Most of the students tried their best in expressing themselves, they had also prepared picture cards for better understanding. They explained us what they are looking forward in their first home stay abroad, what souvenirs they were buying and how will they spend their time. Few of them were nervous and shy for the first round but were actively participating after they got used to with the questions. Towards the end of the program, we could give them advices on learning second language and living as foreign students in different culture and environment. We encouraged them not to hesitate in speaking English, making mistakes, learning from it and making many foreign friends as possible. I hope they have a wonderful time and great experience abroad.This program was an amazing experience for us. High school students’ eagerness of learning English motivated us too. I am really thankful to H.I.S and ICD for providing this opportunity.

I would like to thanks to H.I.S for providing such a wonderful opportunity to us. It was really a good experience having a conversation with high school students. I appreciate all student and class teacher for create a friendly environment. I found all students were well prepared and had good English knowledge, they share their hobbies and interest or planning for New Zealand, some topics are difficult for them to describe like Japanese foods and culture but they tried to explain themselves. I hope our conversation will be helpful for them. I would like to wish them good luck for their bright future.

S.Bさん（弘堂国際学園出身）

We spent about an hour having English conversation with 25 high school students of Kasumitakasi Senior High School（香住丘高校）. They were divided into five small groups and we talked about 15 minutes with each group. It was really great time. All students had well preparation to interact in English. I asked about their introduction, images of Fukuoka prefecture, how they are spending their leisure time, their aim, hobby, their plans in New Zealand and so on. They answered confidently in correct English with good pronunciation. All students like English and want to work where they can use English in future. Definitely, they can gain their aim because they have good English skills and they are doing their best. We had a wonderful English conversation that day. Further, I got knowledge about Fukuoka and also could have image of Japanese high school students, because it was my first experience with high school’s students of Japan.  It was a very good experience for me and I would like to go again if have such a chance. I think students also got good practice in English for their next trip to New Zealand. I wish them to have a great time in New Zealand and bright future ahead.

T.Dさん（愛和外語学院出身）

I had taken part in many exchange meetings before, but it was the first time for me to speak only in English. So it was a precious experience for me, and I really enjoyed it. The students were very shy, but they like English, the piano, football and singing. I don't have any talent, so I really admire them. Their English pronunciation was beautiful. I believe the students I met the other day are trying hard to improve their English, so they will have a great success in the future. I hope we will have another chance to meet a lot of people like this one in the future. Thank you for giving us this opportunity.
